Why does sexual reproduction exist? Why is sexual reproduction so common among complex multi-cellular organisms? What is sex good for? Here I use a simple evolution simulator to answer these questions by comparing a sexually reproducing population to an asexually reproducing one. Sexual reproduction increases variation in a population. And with more variation, natural selection can work faster. One issue I don't cover is sexual reproduction can bring multiple neutral mutations together producing beneficial combinations faster than asexual reproduction.
